Howlite Towers
Howlite was first discovered in Windsor, Nova Scotia, Canada in a Gypsum quarry. This mineral is often called "White Turquois" or "White Buffalo Stone" and is often used in jewelry.
Since natural White Turquois is often chalk-like and quite low on the Mohs harness scale, many manufacturers use Howlite in place of White Turquois because Howlites hardness is much higher and therefore more durable in jewelry settings. So if you see products labeled as "White Turquois and they are quite durable, it is likely Howlite.
